2017 LABC Building Awards
Della Valle Architects won Best Individual New Home at this years Somerset Building Control Partnership Awards and progressed to the South West Awards, which covers an area from Cornwall to Somerset. After a nail biting wait, we were delighted to be awarded second place in this very highly contested catagory. It is a great honour to be recognised in these awards with competition standards being extremely rigourous.
Please visit the 'New Build' section of the website to view the property. This large family home in Butleigh utilises reclaimed blue lias stone, horizontal hardwood boarding and oak framed structures to reflect the local vernacular. Internally, it has an open plan feel and maximises glazing and bi fold doors to access the outside spaces.
South West Building Excellence Awards 2016
Della Valle Architects have been highly commended for two awards in this years Building Excellence Awards. Best large Commercial Building; a block of three new build offices in Long Sutton Somersert.(Picture above kindly supplied by Bill Bradshaw). Also Best Educational Building, for a new build property in Glastonbury.
Della Valle Movember Update
Last November the whole office, (with the exception of Nikki) took part in Movember and wore their moustaches with pride. We raised a very worthwhile £300.00 for the cause and were a little sad to see the hairy top lips go in December!!
Award Winning Houses
Della Valle Architects has now completed its sixth successful year in business and was once again nominated for awards by Mendip District Council Building Control. This year we were a highly commended in the 'Best School Building' for a project in Glastonbury and also in the 'Best Extension or Alteration to Existing Home Project', where a two storey rear extension and lift were added to a large five bedroom house in Shepton Mallet.
This is following on from last years sucess where a 'Special Award' was also given to one of our new build homes Cedar House for innovative design and construction. This is the second award for this eco build property, it also won the '2014 Build-it award for Best Eco Home'. Cedar House is constructed using Modern Methods of Construction, which are becoming popular as everyone strives to build energy efficient homes. Building construction has to meet Building Regulations, which are being incrementally revised, Cedar House exceeds the current levels of insulation required and was designed to meet the levels expected in 2016, the target date for Zero Carbon homes.
In addition we were once again a finalist in the 'Andy Wills for Partnership Award'. These awards are presented by Mendip District Council in recognition of the high quality Building Regulation submissions prepared by the Practice, and the continued excellent working relationship with Mendip Building Control.

Spartan Race Saturday 20th May 2017
Following on from last years Rocket Race Team Della Valle stepped up the challenge and took part in The Spartan race!! This is an extremely challenging 15km race over daunting obstacles. Dathan, Fran and Richard after several months of training completed the race in a rather impressive 3 hours, despite Dathan carrying an injured ankle. Even with the unexpected heavy rain everyone enjoyed the event and plans for the next challenge are already beginning!!
